About the Artist
Nancy is a traditional painter with digital experience. Her eye as an art director and conceptual artist has led to a variety of successful projects including commercial websites, print collatoral, advertising photo shoots, character-based content, interactive cd-roms, and traditional murals. Her skills range from painting in most mediums, story boarding, traditional and 2D digital animation, video editing, music mixing, directing, costuming and model wrangling.
Her style ranges from realism to whimsical to hyper-realistic. She has studied art at both Otis Parsons School of Design and Cogswell Polytechnical College. She is currently studying under Portland artist, Alexander Rokoff. Nancy's goal is to combine traditional figure painting with dark dramatic theatrical contrast.
Some of her inspiration comes from theater, classic horror movies, and literature. Painters like Sargent, Velazquez, Klimt, Degas, Repin and Fetchin inspire her to paint. She enjoys whimsical characters from artists like Edward Gorey and adores classical stories such as Alice in Wonderland and Winnie the Pooh.
Nancy lives in the greater Portland metro area of Oregon with her loving husband, two trying teenage boys, crazy beagle duo, and a compulsive pair of felines. |
