Beginning Drawing
Learn the fundamentals of drawing what you really “see”. You will learn how to use charcoal, pencil, pastels and pen & ink at your own pace using still life. This class uses geometric shapes to study light and shadow and moves on to more complex objects and their relationship in space. We concentrate on learning how to draw accurately which is the foundation for realistic painting.

Figure Oil Painting
Learn how to paint the figure using traditional oil painting methods. We work on color mixing, figure accuracy, and composition, using figure models from life and reference pictures. It is recommended that students have some understanding of oil paints and the tonal palette.

Beginning Oil Painting:
Offered through Village Gallery of Arts
1. Underpainting Study
Beginning students will learn about materials, studio practices and how to start and finish a tonal underpainting. The objective of this class is to get comfortable with the painting environment, painting tools and how to start a painting. Students will learn how to draw with paint and use only two colors to successfully finish a tonal study of light and shadow. This class uses geometric shapes to study light and shadow and moves on to more complex objects and their relationship in space. Once successfully completing the Underpainting class students are ready for the next class Limited Palette Tonal Study.
(All Levels – ages 15 and older)
2. Limited Palette Tonal Study
In this class students compose a still life and use a very limited palette to finish a tonal painting. Students learn how to compose a scene and work with lighting to create an interesting composition. They learn how to mix a limited palette and become aware of the tones that are possible as they finish a tonal study of their composition.

Weekly Drawing & Painting Group with Live Model
*No instruction is provided.

Printmaking Group
Come join us in learning how to drypoint on copper or zinc plates, using a traditional hand cranked press. Each person works on his own plate from beginning to end learning how to prep, set up, print and clean up.
This group meets on the 3rd Sunday every month at 12pm and runs 6-8 hours. Paper, tools, ink & oil and equipment are provided. Plates are available for purchase or can be picked up at your local art store. (Press can accommodate plates 8“x10” or smaller.)

Class & Lesson Fees and Policies
I like to meet with potential students beforehand to walk them through the studio and talk about their artistic goals.
Classes are held in Hillsboro, Oregon. (Near T.V. Hwy & Brookwood Ave.)
Attendance – Classes & Lessons are held on:
Thursday *12-3pm, 3-6pm and 6-9pm
Friday 3-6pm, and Saturday 2-5pm
Cancellations
24 hour notice is required and appreciated. (weather or family emergencies are the exception…but please do let me now asap.)
Make Ups
Make ups can be made during other regular class times and have to be scheduled with in two weeks of absence.
Prices and Payments
Classes – $55 for 3hr session or $50 when paying 4 Classes at a time
Private lessons – $85 for 3 hr lesson. – By appointment only.
In Home Lessons – $100 for 3 hr lesson – By appointment only.
Payment types accepted: – Cash, Check and now PayPal! (Visa, Mastercard, etc… additional 2% charge for CC)
