I’ve been teaching painting and drawing for about 4 years now and have had very limited space. In February, I will be moving into a dedicated teaching space and am going to have more availability. Here are the classes I’m currently offering. I will also be adding a printmaking workshop once a month in the near future. Please contact me with any questions.
Learn how to Draw
Learn the fundamentals of drawing and what you really “see”. You will learn how to use charcoal, pencil, pastels, and pen & ink at your own pace using still life. The class concentrates on learning how to draw accurately which is the foundation for realistic painting.
Wednesday

Beginning Oil Painting: Still Life
Beginning students will learn about materials, studio practices, how to start an underpainting, and finish a painting using a limited palette. The objective of this class is to get comfortable with the oil painting environment. Students learn how to handle oil painting tools, mediums, mix a limited palette, and how to start and compose a painting. This class will start off using simple geometric shapes and progress to more elaborate still life. Each student works and progresses at their own pace.
Thursday

Figure Oil Painting
Learn how to paint the figure using traditional oil painting methods. We work on color mixing, figure accuracy, and composition, using figure models from life and reference pictures. It is recommended that students have some understanding of oil paints and the tonal palette.
Friday
12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Printmaking Workshop
Learn the fundamentals of printmaking using etched copper plates and a traditional hand cranked press.

Monthly
Class Notes & Fees
3 hour session at $55 per session. Classes are ongoing.
$5 off every week if paying for the entire month by 1st week of the month.
I usually like to meet with potential students beforehand to walk them through the studio and talk about their artistic goals. Classes will be held in Hillsboro, Oregon.
